My approach to mastering is probably different than many other Mastering Engineers. There are levels and balances that pretty much have to be met in order for your project to be compatible and manufactured correctly. This aside, it is my belief that each project is unique and needs to be addressed as such. Every track that is brought to me has its own soul. It is my job and desire to find it, bring it to the surface, and let it breath. Most mixes that come my way from experienced mixing engineers already sound fantastic and just need a little attention from some analog gear that they themselves may not possess. Rolling Thunder Studio, where I do my mastering work, has the amazingly cool Masterpiece analog mastering tool. It was developed by veteran mastering engineer Billy Stull and designer Rupert Neve. I have been amazed by how this piece of gear can take digital recordings and make them sound like they were tracked entirely on tape. Along with the analog backbone, I also have an extremely powerful arsenal of software available for making those "surgical" adjustments that are sometimes necessary at my disposal. The Waves Bundles as well as the TC Electronics Power Core processor are wonderful comapnions to the Masterpiece. When it comes right down to it - this gear can add the professional touch to recordings that are done on any type of equipment. It doesn't cost you anything to have me listen to your tracks. In fact it doesn't cost you anything to have me master one song! I will completely master a song for you for nothing so that you can have a true idea of what professional mastering can do for yourrecordings.
