Dave Runyan's Bio Born and raised in Bellaire, Michigan Dave started playing bass guitar at the age of 14. Bands like Kansas and Styx filled the airwaves and recording equipment was just for the privileged few or the very wealthy. He played in the usual high school jam bands and started writing songs as he started to branch out into other instruments. As time went on and the band needed a pa system Dave took out his first loan to buy one. To make the payments he started doing school dances and parties with the equipment. In 1983 he went to the Recording Workshop in Ohio to start his learning process in the art of recording. Graduating in the top two percent of his class made it clear that this is what he was supposed to do with his life. For the next ten years he concentrated mainly on his family. Married with two daughters (Rachel and Miranda) Dave worked as an Iron Worker for 4 years before getting his builders licence and settling in as a finish carpenter. While working on some of the nicest houses on the lakes around Bellaire his love for music took hold again. In the mid 1990s he played bass with a band called Ground Zero. Along with members Mike Doremire, Dave Hill and Jeff Greene he played all over Michigan. The band was quite heavy compared to most of the local bands at the time. A following developed and gigs were packed. The band broke up when guitarist Mike Doremire moved out of state. Dave was then picked up as a bassist by Brian Whitecell for a band he was putting together to promote his own music. Brian and Dave started writing together and Dave switched over to Keyboards for the band. He had very limited abilities and experience on keys but he took the challenge and pushed on. The other members of the group were very supportive and gave him time to "catch up". Brian and Dave spent the next few years writing and recording together. Brian today has Whitecell Productions in Traverse City, Michigan. After some time owning a hardwood flooring company and a web design company Dave decided to make some changes. He decided to devote all his time to music and recording. In the fall of 2004 with the help and support of his new wife Monique, Runyan Media was born. It started out as a recording company that concentrated entirely on live recordings. The business evolved and started to branch out into studio work. The next step was the 2007 construction of the new RM Recording Studio just outside Bellaire, Michigan. This is only the begining............... |
